Ouran High School Host Club is a short, quirky shōjo with only 26 episodes. It takes place at Ouran Academy amongst the ultra-filthy rich and their offspring.
Haruhi Fujiyoka is one of the main characters and is a “commoner.” She breaks an expensive vase display in the host club and is forced into servitude to pay back her debt. Initially, the host club is under the assumption that Haruhi is a he, not a she. Once they discover the truth, they continue to harbor her secret as long as she repays her debts.
This series remained lighthearted while still containing heavy-hitting concepts such as romance, social commentary, class identity, and relationships.
Its musicality and character development, and plot make for the perfect watch.
I hope that Bisco Hatori greenlights another season. In the meantime, visit the Ouran Host Club in Music Room 3.
